How TCP/IP works

Transmission control protocol/Internet protocol known as TCP/IP defines the way data is sent across the entire computer network. TCP/IP protocol suits suggest that data is sent in the form of packets. TCP/IP protocol suit is formulated in the form of layers, one after the other and each of these layers has unique functionalities which very well define the propagation of packet from the source port to the destination port of intended computers.

IP or Internet Protocol is the most important term associated with TCP/IP. It is because all the data are sent in the form of IP packets through the network. Simply speaking, IP does the work of a postal worker whose job is to simply route or sort the letters. He transfers the letters to the next available delivery route or path and same is the work of Internet protocol.

The most interesting question associated with TCP/IP is how a source will identify its destination located at the other part of the world? Here comes the importance of IP addresses which is absolutely unique for each and every computer. The IP address is a combination of network id and host id where the network part will suggest the network that computer belongs and the host is will suggest the host part of that computer.

Multivariate Testing, and what you should know about it

In the field of statistics multivariate testing that is also known as the multi-variable testing and is a particular technique that is used to test hypotheses on many complicated systems of  multi-variability that are mainly used to test perceptions of the market.

In the fields of Internet marketing the aforementioned term also has found a usage. The multivariate testing is defined as a process through which multiple components of a particular website can be put to a particular test amidst a live environment. Multivariate Testing in other words or simply can be terms as several split tests or in other terms these can be called A/B tests. These tests can also be performed on a single page at the similar point in time. The tests are usually performed to perfectly decide on the better of a couple of content variations. Multivariate Testing can in a way successfully test the efficiency of an infinite number of combinations. However there is but one aspect that somehow limits this seemingly flawless multivariate test. The aspect that has been mentioned or rather the aforementioned limitation about the test is the time that it consumes so as to get a sample of both the visitors as well as power of computation. It has to be said that the sample as well as the computation power has to be validated by a statistical analysis.

Multivariate Testing is normally used so as to make sure what content or rather what the  variation of the creative procedure, produces the most development as per as the demands or wants of a particular website. It can be mentioned here that an extreme increment might just be witnessed through testing various copy texts, layouts of form not to mention images of the landing page as well as the colors used in the background of a website. It must however be kept in mind that not every element would be able to produce a similar degree of increment during all these conversions. One can also determine the results as are found from various tests. There is however a bleak possibility of successfully identifying the elements which have a propensity to create the largest increments in all the conversions.

A typical Multivariate Testing is usually done on a website that is generated dynamically. The aforementioned testing is done after the server has been set up so as to manifest a large number of non similar variations in content. These different variations are however shown in absolutely equal amounts to each and every incoming logger who visits the site.

There is a list of statistics on display about the way every visitor of the site behaves or reacts after checking out the content. This ‘reaction’ test as we might call it should also be gathered and later offered.

There are many services that are outsourced and these services are also properly utilized in order to present Multivariate Testing on many websites. Such services are inserted in the content of the sites to areas of the site that are all defined previously. There is also a system to monitor the behavior of each and every user.

What is a SpecMark?

SPEC stands for Systems Performance Evaluation Cooperation. Spec mark is the mean of a series of benchmark set by SPEC and is taken as the geometric mean. For calculation of the Spec mark, SPEC group uses floating point and integer values and hence benchmark calculation is the mean of these values. Spec mark has 6 integer as well as 14 floating point values. It is a geometric mean calculated on ten benchmark programs that are standardized by SPEC. the programs for SPEC benchmark are written in platform neutral language. The FORTRAN and the C codes are most commonly used ones, but they have been slightly elevated.  For use of the Spec marks, one needs to get the license from SPEC. This is a non-profit organization which aims at giving useful benchmarks for the computers. The activities can take the standard benchmark set and provided by SPEC.

The use of Specmarks must be based on the policies set by SPEC. the benchmarks can be used in a different manner only with the permission of SPEC. they need to get the license from SPEC before going for the change in the use. People are not allowed to use specmarks in their products without the permission of SPEC. Spec marks have high value in evaluating the performance of the computer in the software industry.
