Other Manchester United game results

Manchester United and Chelsea

The match ended as a draw with both teams earning a precious point. However united would not be happy with the way they performed in the past two matches, after having taken the lead in both their campaigns.

Manchester United and Bolton Wanderers

Minutes later both Scholes and Rooney came on as substitute, the game suddenly came to life with Scholes providing some pin point accurate passes. However the talk of the day was Wayne Rooney who scored in the far corner after Ronaldo had marvellously set him up with a back heal.  At the whistle, United were the winners with two goals to nil.

Return of Ronaldo against Villarreal

United built up a lot of pressure once Ronaldo was on the field. It was his initial ball that set up the best play of the game in the 72nd minute. Rooney setup Carlos Tevez for a one on one situation however it was Gonzalo, the Villarreal captain who saved the day, as he cleared the ball of the line. Ronaldo got a great chance to start his campaign with a goal; but it wasn’t to be as the header went pass the goal. Minutes later, Ronaldo’s trade mark cross found Evans who headed the ball only to be denied by the post.

The match was a goalless draw much to the frustration of United fans. However they would be happy to see Cristiano up and running for the new season.

Liverpool and Manchester United

Liverpool started the second half on a high, with the Anfield crowd behind them. Steven Gerrard was introduced in 60th minute as the crowd cheered with expectancy for the world class midfielder. Liverpool’s Pepe Reina had hardly anything to do after conceding the goal in the 3rd minute. However Ryan Giggs did take a long range shot only for Pepe Reina to knock it off target.

It was Ryan Giggs’s mistake that led to the goal, when he should have kicked the ball to safety for a corner. Minutes before whistle, Nemanja Vidic was sent off with the second yellow of the game for a foul on Xavi Alonso. This meant he would miss the critical match next weekend against Chelsea. As for the reds they had their win. It was all joy around Liverpool as they beat United at home.
